Ciplox-D Eye/Ear Drops

A sterile ophthalmic and otic solution combining:

• Ciprofloxacin 0.3% w/v – a fluoroquinolone antibiotic

• Dexamethasone 0.1% w/v – a corticosteroid to reduce inflammation

✅ Indications

• Bacterial eye infections: Conjunctivitis, corneal ulcers, post-surgical inflammation .

• Bacterial ear infections: Otitis externa (“swimmer’s ear”) and acute otitis media in patients with tympanostomy tubes

🔬 Mechanism of Action

• Ciprofloxacin kills bacteria by inhibiting DNA gyrase.

• Dexamethasone reduces redness, swelling, and itching

💊 Dosage & Administration

👁️ Eye Use

• Instill 1–2 drops in the affected eye, 2–4 times daily, as per doctor’s instructions

• Warm the bottle, tilt head, instil 4 drops in the affected ear twice daily, for 7 days

• Gently pump the tragus to help solution penetrate for otitis externa

⚠️ Precautions & Side Effects

Common mild side effects:

• Burning, stinging, irritation in eye/ear; blurred vision or taste change; ear discomfort

Important cautions:

• Avoid use in suspected viral or fungal eye/ear infections

• Do not touch the dropper tip to avoid contamination

• Avoid contact lenses during use if for eyes

• Temporary blurred vision may affect driving; use caution

⏳ Duration & Follow-up

• Use for the entire 7-day course, even if symptoms improve, to prevent relapse or resistance

• If no improvement after a week, consult your doctor
